Sugarcane growers are asking for concrete details about how much of the funding provided by the Reef Trust Partnership for a regional water quality program for Mackay-Whitsunday region will reach farmers on the ground.
A series of projects have just been announced by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Reef Catchments for the Mackay-Whitsunday region, CANEGROWERS Mackay Chairman, Kevin Borg said today. However, transparent details about how each project will translate to on ground assistance to growers to fund farming practice change is absent. MoreThe Cost of Production Tool is primarily designed to allow growers to determine what sugar price they need to cover production costs. This is an important part of understanding what sugar prices you would like to lock in for your business.
The tool allows you to enter your own farm information, which will enable a break-even sugar price to be calculated based on your costs of production. Members can download the new Cost of Production Tool on the CANEGROWERS website at www.canegrowers.com.au/marketing-information-service.
A handy How to Guide on using the Tool can be found on pages 17-18 of the June edition of the Canegrower magazine.
