MACKAY CANEGROWERS LIMITED (MCL) trading as CANEGROWERS Mackay is an integral part of CANEGROWERS Queensland, the principal body representing the state’s sugarcane growers. MCL provides representation, advice and services to the majority of cane growers in the Mackay and Plane Creek areas on a wide range of issues including advocacy, marketing, water and electricity, workplace safety, transport, environment, training and business management.

  • The Smartcane requirement for signage on storage of farm chemicals is: signage stating that it is a ‘Chemical Storage Area’. 
    This is adequate for the vast majority of farm chemical storages which typically store well below a total of 1000 kg or Litres combined, and are therefore defined as ‘minor storage’ under the Australian Standard AS 2507. It is recommended that growers purchase a suitable sign – such signs will typically include other wording or symbols  such as ‘CAUTION’, or “DANGER”, or ‘!”, or “Authorised Personnel Only”.  Click here for an example.
