Mackay Canegrowers Limited (MCL) trading as CANEGROWERS Mackay is an integral part of the CANEGROWERS organisation, the peak body representing Australia's sugarcane growers in Queensland and New South Wales.  MCL provides services, representation and support to the majority of cane growers across the Mackay and Plane Creek regions on a wide range of issues including advocacy, marketing, water and electricity, workplace health & safety, transport, environment and best management practice, training and business management.

  • Have your say on the Queensland Solar Farm Guidelines

    The development of solar farms in cane growing regions has been of concern with the possible use of good agricultural land and other consequences such as drainage. The Qld Government has released draft Queensland Solar Farm Planning Guidelines https://www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au/gi/consultation/4953/view.html for comment, intended to support local councils in planning for and assessing solar projects under the Queensland Planning Framework and educate local communities and project developers about good standards of development practice. This is a positive step welcomed by the QFF. Consultation closes on 11 May and growers are invited to attend a community forum in Mackay – 2 May.  If you have any concerns you would like to bring to CANEGROWERS attention, please contact your local CANEGROWERS office.

    Farm Business Management Skill Sets - This fast-tracked agribusiness short course is designed for Queensland farmers and managers of agricultural operations as well as those seeking employment in, or recently introduced to an agribusiness role.  This is a heavily subsidised course for cane growers and will only cost $244.
